According
to the reading of “To See and Be Seen: Celebrity Practice on Twitter”, it tells
us that Twitter has become a super tool for celebrities to have communication with
fans and also with the media. It is not a special offer for ordinary people to use
gossip websites, fan sites, and blogs in order to have interactions, but so as
the celebrities. They will try to use similar techniques on social media to
maintain their popularity and image. Celebrities build up their self-image
through Twitter, while they can have interactions with their fans. Moreover
they will even post their daily status, live videos; these make audiences to
have a deeper understanding to that particular celebrity, for example what is
her identity and hobbies are.
These
interacts increase the popularity of self-branding and self-presentation of the
celebrity, and this strategy seems give so much improvement towards celebrity
practices. Celebrities do not only mean as products but even making a sense of
living style. Celebrity culture creates in our daily lives and it seems we can’t
live without it. By uploading live shows, fans could leave immediate comments and
start chatting with their idols. And this interaction makes a closer
relationship between idols and fans which like a friend talk.
I
do agree that Twitter has been a platform for celebrities to have practices and
furthermore it develop a culture for bloggers and fans. It seems like a trend
where people are trying to follow and also it becomes normal to know more about
the life of a celebrity. Besides it also becomes a tool for celebrities to
address rumors when they don’t want to held a press conference. They just need
to type and press a button, and the message can be spread to everywhere. Following
the account of the celebrity, develop a closer the gap between a fan just
listening to her music or watching her movies, but also you can express your
feelings to her and let her notice your love. Although it is quite strange to
do so, moreover she may notice more about you while you leave your comments and
even clicking “like” on her post.
Actually
I got similar experience before, therefore celebrity practices are really true.
I will “like” my favorite actress post and leave her a comment every time when
she updates. One day, she suddenly clicked "like" for my posts on Instagram and it
seems she notice me in the real world although we didn’t met in reality.
To
conclude as the improvement of the technology, people are changing their
methods to get information. And they do not need to know about their idols only
through television or magazines, but in a closer relationship just like
friends; discussing her works, her family and chitchat with one another.
