In the article “To see and be seen: Celebrity Practice on Twitter” by Marwick and Boyd, they argue the celebrities employ social network (e.g., Facebook, Instagram.) as method to establish their self-image and favorable impression in new media culture. Social media provides usages of creating or sharing content that famous people can post their daily life scenes or messages to gain audience’s favor-ability and build an approachable relationship with their fans, even the micro-celebrity who obtains mainstream followers through the internet distribution rather than limitation of traditional media.

Besides, the authors pointed three examples from Twitter to represent advantage and disadvantage of the interaction between celebrity and fans. Hence, I consider intimate relation which is an adhesive to connect celebrity as acquaintances to the audiences and followers that assist to create succeed virtual society or the illusion of recognition.

The topic that interested me greatly was about the authenticity of virtual internet that it appears many counterfeit accounts who act as famous people to catch public’s attention and gains benefits to satisfy their vanity. Moreover, the celebrity’s official account sometimes is not managed by oneself, instead of manipulated by their manager or assistant. So how can we determine the accuracy of message and it is really come from celebrity?

I found an article by Gizauskas notes the judgement of interview some impersonators who tried pretend to be celebrities. Someone used the celebrity’s name (Prince William etc.) to establish an account then posted the non-oneself status and photos on Twitter cause of they are the fans who wants to become their idols. Therefore, everyone can be anybody and creates new identity which they expect to act in network. It is difficult to control that celebrity oneself may under pressure to face some gossip news made by these impersonators.

In addition, a post by Hutchinson points Kim Kardashian purchased some Instagram followers that it also reflects the development of “click farms" in social media. It assists celebrity consolidate position and reputation. Celebrity practice can be successful which have intimate interaction to their fans in social media. Social network seems as instant steaming system to celebrities interact and communicate with fans immediately. However, I ponder that it just a backstage management that they can prepare beforehand the information or think deeply what message should they put into the post. Their impression maybe forged which the image is created by a little false tale.
